How to: Use Polls

Updated over 4 months ago

There are many ways to use Polls — from employee awards to fun ways of spotlighting different employees' strengths.

How does it work?

A poll is a question you ask your team to spark nominations. For example: “Who’s gone above and beyond this week?”

Everyone gets to nominate the person they think best fits the question. Once the poll closes, the person with the most nominations wins.

You can use polls in a few different ways — it just depends on what kind of outcome you’re after.

How to create a simple poll

Step One: Enter the Celebration hub and select 'Create poll'.

Setting up your poll:

  • Name your poll (or select Inspire Me if you're stuck)

  • Add a description to explain the purpose

  • Choose a trophy

  • Add relevant company values

  • Set the voting period: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or a custom end date

  • Choose who can see the poll: the whole company or a specific team

  • Decide who can view live results: everyone or just admins/managers

  • Set result publishing: auto-publish at the end or manually later

  • Choose if votes are anonymous

Step Three: Once the poll has been created, your employees will receive a notification to cast their vote, and they can do this by entering the Celebration hub and selecting 'Cast your vote'.

When does it end?

You can edit the end date to when you like, but all polls end at 17:00 GMT on the day selected.

What happens when it ends?

How the winner is announced depends on your settings. This will determine what happens when the poll ends.

  • If you select ‘Yes’ in the "Publish final result and messages on celebrations" dropdown, the results will show on the celebrations feed once the poll ends.

  • If you choose ‘No’ and select ‘Send poll creator an email with a link to publish’, you’ll receive an email with the results. This is a great option for larger, company-wide awards or if you want to announce the winner at a special event.

Are nominations and votes anonymous?

It’s up to you. If you want employees to choose whether their vote or nomination is anonymous, tick the ‘Anonymous voting’ box.

If you’d prefer the results to be a surprise, go to the “Show in-progress poll results and messages to” dropdown and select either ‘Admin and Managers’ or ‘Admins only, ’ depending on who you want to see the results.
