Admin guide to custom rewards

All you need to know to get started with the new Custom rewards feature

Updated over 4 months ago

Introducing custom rewards

Custom rewards is a new feature that allows you as an admin to set up non-monetary rewards that you can send to your team on the Celebration hub.

Why we built it

We wanted to help customers to be able to enrich the recognition experience of their teams on any budget, thus offering a new way of strengthening company cultures at no extra cost.

What it does

Once you've set up your Custom rewards, all your managers and admins will be able to add one of these custom rewards to the recognitions that they create for the employees.

Imagination is your only limit - from days off to fictional points that you can swap for activities - anything can be a custom reward!

πŸ’‘Top tip: ask your employees what they will appreciate as their rewards and recognise the creators the most innovative ideas!

Custom rewards sit under Customisations in your admin hub:

To create and manage your custom rewards, from the admin hub select the customisation tab in the left hand menu.

2. Setting up a custom reward

To get started on a custom reward, click 'add custom reward' button, which will open the set-up field that looks like this:

Here, you can build all your reward details, including:

  • Reward title
This will show up when sending and receiving the reward. This can be absolutely anything from a late start to a lunch with the CEO - your limit is your imagination. Why not run a competition amongst your employees to get some creative ideas?

Top tip: think of a naming convention that's brief and simple to understand.

  • Locations available
If you have employees in different countries, pick the counties this custom reward is applied to. If all your employees are in the same location - leave it as 'all', which is a default setting

  • Add a reward policy
Are there any conditions attached? If you have any policy about this reward, add it here as guidance to any of the admin level users on your team who will be sending the custom rewards

  • Add redemption instructions
Instructions are there to let the employee know how to get this reward. They will also be seen by the manager

Once everything is set up, click 'create'

The new custom reward will be created instantaneously, and will be visible to you in the list of rewards available, as well as when recognising employees:

3. Editing, managing and hiding custom rewards

By clicking 'View details', you can see the custom reward information that employees will see:

You can edit any details of custom rewards at any time using the same widget, by clicking the 'Edit' button:

If you'd like to stop using this reward, use the toggle on the right hand side, next to the 'Edit' button. The reward will be hidden right away (see above)

Note: you can only edit and hide custom rewards. You cannot delete a custom reward – this is to maintain the reporting data.

Anyone with an admin access to Perkbox can manage and send custom rewards. To do this, go to the Celebration hub and start a recognition:

From here, you have an option to add a reward (see above). To send a custom reward, select 'Custom reward'

And then from the list of available and active custom rewards you've already built, you can pick a reward you'd like to send:

You can also check any related reward policies by clicking '+ Show details about this reward'

From here, you can edit the send time settings just like in any regular recognition. As sending a reward requires a two-factor authentication, your reward will be sent once you've completed this:

Recognition feed:

Once the custom reward is sent, the employee will be notified.

This is how the reward will look on your recognition feed:

If you want this to only be shown to the recipient, please check your recognition visibility settings.

Once the custom reward is opened, the recipient will see all of the custom reward details, any associated instructions:

Finding all the custom rewards the employee has received
